Yoga: Halfway Point
November 4th:
I just wanted to give you all an update on my 30 day yoga challenge!
I am currently 7 days into the challenge.
That first week? Woah. I was incredibly sore, drenched in sweat, I even almost cried one night.
I started strong, but by the end of the first 5 days, I was tired, weak, and felt like I had zero balance.
It was very frustrating.
Today though, day 7 happened.
My soreness is gone (apart from my wrists, hello planks), and I’m beginning to feel stronger in my practice!
Today I did the wheel pose for the first time in forever!
I feel strong.
I look forward to going to the studio, which by the way is the cutest and most incredible studio that I have ever been to.
I feel empowered.
So, back to the studio.
CDA Power Yoga is incredible.
I felt instantly welcomed.
No judgement.
Smiles, with people introducing themselves to me.
The yoga practice itself is amazing as well.
It’s more of a workout, which I love. The flows are faster, but the instructors still take time to sit in a pose to enhance the foundation.
They also come by and help you by aligning you, or tweaking your postures so that they are correct.
This studio is based off of Baptiste yoga.
This form of yoga incorporates physical yoga practice, meditation, and personal insight to build both mental and physical strength. I value that this studio pursues this so strongly; always having intentions and positive thoughts spread while going through the flows. This practice focuses on personal growth in all aspects, and I hope to gain more of both the physical and mental changes through this month.
November 20th:
Ok, so I definitely did not get to posting this on November 4th, as I had planned.
BUT, here we are on November 20th, my 23rd straight day of yoga.
Let me tell you, my life has changed.
Every. Single. Day. I look forward to going to yoga at CDA Power Yoga.
It’s the physical movement, the owners, the other teachers, and the community that they have created.
I have gone from not being able to do any inversions except crow pose, to now being able to do wheel, a headstand (ish), and my crow is stronger and I am able to hold it longer.
In 23 days this has happened.
I feel strong.
My posture has improved.
My yoga practice is intentional and powerful.
Something that I am most excited about though, I have made friends.
Don’t freak out, I have other friends here too! But these new ones are outside of work, and they make me excited to go to yoga and excited to get to know them more!
Every time I see them, they ask how my practice is going; they ask how I am doing, and we talk about life and amazing things we have done and have planned to do.
Let me tell you, making friends as an adult is super awkward and hard!
But this studio takes all of that away, and allows everyone to make friends, be vulnerable, laugh, and enjoy every bit of it.
This month isn’t over; I still have 9 days left!
I plan to live in the moment, and soak it all up.
Thanks for following, and I promise, more adventures soon!
Namaste,
Rach
